Aesthetics was a photobook I constructed in May 2023. It took several months to produce and design and it looked at the identities of local and international students studying at Universities around Leeds. While I was capturing each portrait I asked for them to bring something that was significant to them, either from the past or the present. The final product of the work that I have created is a 70-page photobook compiling all the images I took in chronological order, mixing found imagery with intense, dramatic portraits. I chose the color lilac purple; it represents compassion, youthfulness, spirituality, and tranquility – I felt that as we all had personal connotations towards each of the things we picked as well.
